Pigmy sperm whale rescued

(KEY LARGO - Florida - Usa) - A pigmy sperm whale (3,3 meters, 540 kg) nicknamed Kokomo, has been found stranded on a Florida Keys sandbar few days ago.

Has been taken to protected waters of a pool for the treatment against dehydration and wounds probably inflicted by a harpoon.

While in captivity kokomo has gained 30 kg, every day eats 40 kg of food and antibiotics. The whale is about 20-25 years old and probably could live other 10 years.

The treatment is made by the Marine Mammal Conservancy in Key Largo.
